Michael Herrington scores 20th career O'Reilly SUPR Sprint Car victory while Todd Rogers tops Mississippi Modifieds!
Baton Rouge, Louisiana (May 7, 2005) – Michael Herrington claimed his 20th career O’Reilly SUPR Sprint Car feature and his third win of the season at Baton Rouge Raceway Saturday night. Herrington grabbed the lead at the start of the race and was not to be stopped as he outraced Shane Morgan and Terry Vidrine to take the win. Herrington also regained position of the championship point lead with the victory edging by Vidrine 499 to 492 after four rounds of racing on the 2005 O’Reilly SUPR Sprint Car Series. Herrington started the night off by winning his heat race and he just kept setting the pace up front. He competition for the lead in the early stages was an old nemesis, 2002 O’Reilly SUPR Sprint Car Champion Butch David and David proved to be as fast as Herrington around the Baton Rouge Raceway oval but unfortunately for David, his recent string of bad luck continued when he exited early while running second. 31 MS Modifieds split into 4 heats. Roger Flynn, James Ward, Brook Strength, and Kevin Dupont all took heat wins. On the start of the feature they ran three wide for the lead Flynn, Dupont and Ward. Flynn got the lead followed by Dupont and Ward. Mark Herbert spun on the front straightaway and brought out the yellow. Todd Rogers has worked his way to third, then battled Dupont for second. Rogers sailed into the lead with Kevin Dupont right behind him in second. A five car pile up in four brought the yellow out again. Greg Hollingsworth tapped the side of Kevin Dupont as he took over second on the last lap. Dupont went in the pits smoking. Todd Rogers ran a good race and scored the win followed by Greg Hollingsworth, Billy Collett, Roger Flynn, and Brandon Butler.

Jason Jackson and Christian Rodeman took the street stock heat wins. Rocky deGruy led every lap of the feature and took the win by several car lengths over Daniel Jessup, Jimmy Stephens, Jeremy Dubois and Mark Simeon.
Dustin Westmoreland and Wayne Ward shared the heat wins in the new Limited Modified class. Westmoreland took the lead on the start . Yellow flew when Matt Holmes and Troy Cassano tangled. On The restart Westmoreland led followed by Wayne Ward. Westmoreland led every lap and took the win followed by Kevin Philips, Joe Simoneaux and Troy Cassano.
The night started off with Scott Womack and Eric McAllister side by side for the first pure stock heat win. Leonard Barilleaux and Justin Bowman took the other heat wins. On the start of the feature Chris Crowe and Tudy Jackson ran wheel to wheel to turn two where Crowe took the lead. Bowman took over second then lost it in four an earned a trip to the rear on the restart. On the restart upfront was Crowe, Teal, and Romero. Tracy Talbert while running fifth got onto the front wall. On the restart this time upfront was Crowe, Jason Truax, and Eric McAllister. Scott Womack worked his way to second behind Crowe. Crowe went on to lead every lap and score the win. Scott Womack took second, Justin Bowman after spinning and going to the rear, went from 20th to finish third. Eric McAllister took fourth and Jason Truax fifth.
