Watson and Taylor top winners at BRR
Baton Rouge, Louisiana (May 21, 2005) - Donald Watson out dueled Elizabeth Halpin Smith to take the Late Model feature. Watson held off Smith over the last half of the race with Smith slipping on the final lap allowing Jimmy Noland and Jonathan Clayton to move by at the checkers. Smith finished fourth ahead of Kennith Crowe. Sam Patrick and Randy Blanchard claimed the heat race wins.
Jason Taylor overcame an early spin and a trip to the rear to take the UMP Modified feature overcoming Curtis Vicknair for the win. Bobby Semple, Brandon Buhler and Shane Barbara rounded out the top five. Taylor also claimed the heat race win.
Jason Jackson dominated the Street Stock feature while Jody Vicknair and Rocky DeGruy swapped positions in the battle for second with Vicknair holding off DeGruy to finish second while Daniel Jessup staged a late rally to grab third ahead of DeGruy and Gary Pettit. Jackson's domination also extended to the heat race which he won over Jody Vicknair.
Damian Acosta and Kevin Phillips split the heat race wins and then dueled for the lead in the Limited Modified feature with Acosta taking the win. Billy Smith claimed third while Dustin Westmoreland and Joe Simoneaux rounded out the top five.
Eric McAllister started on the pole and led every lap of the Pure Stock feature to take the win while Donovan Romero and Tracy Talbert dueled for second. Romero held off Talbert for second with Jason Truax and Melvin Buecker in tow. Buecker and Talbert took the heat wins.
