Jimmy Noland takes third win of the season
Baton Rouge, Louisiana (June 4, 2005) - Randy Blanchard blasted into the lead for the feature with Jimmy Noland in tow. Turn two Blanchard drifted high and Noland dove under him and took over the lead. Noland put several car lengths on Blanchard. Jerry Bevis took over second. Noland went on to win his third of the season. Bevis took second, Blanchard third, Larry Clayton fourth and Donald Watson fifth. Randy Blanchard took the heat win for late models.
In UMP action, Bobby Simple took the point on the start of the feature followed by Kevin Dupont. It wasn't long and Dupont went on the high side in turn two and blasted past Simple for the lead. Dupont led the rest of the race and broke his bad luck streak of not finishing the last 7 races and scored the win. Simple took second, Shane Barbara ran a strong third, Tony Bennett finished fourth and Topper Dugas fifth. Kevin Dupont took the heat win for UMP.
Billy Smith started from the pole in the Limited Modifieds but from outside the front row Dustin Westmoreland took the lead. Smith moved into second then found himself in a battle with Kevin Philips until Smith spun and earned a trip to the rear. Westmoreland went on to take the win, Damian Acosta second, Kevin Phillips third, Wayne Ward fourth, and rounding out the top five was Michael Siragusa. Billy Smith took the heat win.
Jason Jackson took the heat win in street stock. Jackson died on the front straightaway. Daniel Jessup took the win and Jackson second.
In Pure Stock Donovan Romero took the first heat win and earned the pole f or the feature. Melvin Buecker took the second heat win. Down the front straightaway on the start of the feature Romero in the big yellow LTD had the lead with Buecker in tow and Jason Truax with a nose under Buecker trying to get second. Buecker took over the lead dropping Romero to second. It looked like Brian Jarreau had third sewed up till Jason Truax slipped by and took third. Cliff Welch pitted with problems. Melvin Buecker took the win followed by Romero, Truax, Jarreau, and Kent Maher.
