Baton Rouge Raceway comes under attack from two-barreled Cannon!

Baton Rouge, Louisiana (April 23, 2005) - Tommy Cannon took the heat win for the SIMS Modified class. On the drop of the green Damien Acosta jumped to the lead. Matt Holmes and Tommy Cannon battled side by side for second . Cannon moved into second while Holmes battled beside Dustin Westmoreland for third. Down the front straightaway Matt Holmes got out of shape and headed or the concrete barriers on the inside the track. Just in the nick of time gathered him self up and was back underway. They ran three wide for the lead Tommy Cannon, Acosta and Dustin Westmoreland. Cannon got the lead and went on to score the win followed by Damien Acasta, Kevin Phillips, and Matt Holmes who worked his way back to finish forth.

Roy Schnebelen and Jerry Cassano shared the heat wins for UMP. David Knight started from the pole on the start. Tommy Cannon jumped out of his SIMS car and into The 66 Eagle Motorsports car normally driven by James Ward. On the start of the feature, Cannon had the lead followed by Knight. Cannon led every lap and went to the winners circle again. Putting both of Eagles Motorsports bowties in the win column. Curtis Vicknair second, James Barrett third, Roy Schnebelen fourth and Keith Freeman fifth.

Pure stock heat winners Scott Womack and Eric McAllister made up the front row for the feature.  Womack and McAllister ran wheel to wheel to turn four where McAllister took the lead.  Yellow flew for a three car pile up in four. Chris Crowe got the worst with heavy damage to the front of his car. On the restart upfront was McAllister, Womack and a side by side Ford/ Chevy battle between Tracy Talbert and new comer Don Ramarro. Eric McAllister took the win followed by Scott Womack, Don Ramarro, Tracy Talbert,  and Melvin Beucker.

Todd Hazel and Rocky deGruy took the heat wins for street stock. Craig Cunningham on the pole for the feature. Jody Vicknair from outside the front row took the lead on the start. Todd Hazel and Cunningham battled side by side behind Vicknair for second. Jason Jackson worked his way to second. In turn two the leader Vicknair got sideways while Jackson slipped by for the lead. Jackson sailed to victory making it two in a row. Craig Cunningham finished second, Todd Hazel third, Rocky deGruy fourth and rounding out the top five Jeremy Dubois.

Randy Blanchard took the heat win for Late Models. Jimmy Noland from the pole blasted into the lead. Blanchard second and Elizabeth Halpin Smith third. Brock Williams and Halpin Smith tires made contact and she went in pits with tire going down. Jimmy Noland led every lap and scored the Late Model feature win. Randy Blanchard second, Brock Williams third, Butch Jenkins took fourth and Michael Giammanchere took fifth.
