David Ashley makes it two-in-a-row Baton Rouge, Louisiana (May 9, 2003) - David Ashley made a late charge to the lead passing Jerry Bevis to take his second O'Reilly Late Model win-in-a-row and third of the season. Chris Wall set the early pace until Bevis moved by for the lead. Bevis held off Ashley's challenges before Ashley made the late pass to take the win. Kevin Watts, Chris Wall and Jimmy Nolan rounded out the top 5. David Ashley and Donald Watson claimed the heat race wins. The Cassano name returned to Coca-Cola UMP victory lane this weekend with Chris Cassano taking his second victory of the season. Chris took the lead from the drop of the green and led every lap to take the win over Darron Carroll, Jerry Cassano, Kalif Selier and Jeff Martello. Kalif Selier, Chris Cassano and Darron Carroll won the heat races. Bo Garig's victory streak came to end when he slowed while lead and Mark Hardwick was quick to seize the opportunity and powered by to his second Pure Stock victory of the season. Richie Ginn recorded a solid second place ahead of Eric McAllister, Tudy Jackson and Darrell Guy. Rocky DeGruy fought his way to the front to take his first Street Stock victory of the season. DeGruy first battled by Jason Wilks to take the lead and then held off all the challanges from Roger Flynn to take the win. Flynn settled for second ahead of Jason Wilks, who overcame an early spin to finish third. Jimmy Stephens and Daniel Jessup rounded out the top 5. Johnny Whitehead once again returned to victory lane in the Cruiser class and he did it with yet another co-pilot, this time it was Mike Richardson sharing the win.
