Schnebelen steps into Cassano void to record first UMP victory of the year Baton Rouge, Louisiana (May 2, 2003) - The Cassano family has dominated the Coca-Cola UMP Modified action at Baton Rouge Raceway but this week Roy Schebelen ended that streak with a visit to victory lane. Schnebelen battled side-by-side with pole sitter Bobby Semple before taking the lead and the victory. Darron Carroll moved up to finish second ahead of Mike Row. Clay Schexnayder finished fourth ahead of Bobby Semple who slipped to fifth at the finish. David Ashley returned to victory in O'Reilly Late Model competition. Ashley took the victory over Jerry Bevis, who worked his way through the field to finish second. Kevin Watts finished third ahead of David Knight and Bill Gordon. Bo Garig continued to dominate Pure Stock competition as he recorded his fifth victory in 6 races. Garig held off Mark Hardwick, Darrell Guy, Eric McAllister and Dallas Grice to take the win. Jason Wilks was also seeking his fifth victory of the season in Street Stock competition but Roger Flynn was up to the task of holding off Wilks' challenge and recorded his second victory of the season. Flynn started on the outside front row and jumped in to the lead and held off Wilks' challenges to take the win. David Johnson, Crazy George and Daniel Jessup rounded out the top 5. Johnny Whitehead took on a different co-pilot but the results were the same as this time Whitehead and Terry Watson took the feature win in the Cruiser class.
