| _ | Litton Finds Victory Again - Same Place Chatham, Louisiana (September 14, 2001) – Rob Litton claimed the third O’Reilly SUPR victory of his career in the Brown’s Trucking Southern 50 at Louisiana Motor Speedway. Louisiana Motor Speedway was the site of Litton’s first ever O’Reilly SUPR victory last year and Litton was quick to establish his mastery of the facility once again. Litton, piloting the LMS Truck Center/Performance Imaging Wall2Wall Racing Engines-powered GRT ran up front all race long and then he had to survive a late race challenge from Kenny Merchant to take the victory. Litton and Merchant made contact as Merchant looked for an opportunity to pass on the outside line. They bumped with 10 laps to go and Litton held on to the top spot while Merchant’s car developed a flat tire and he was forced to drop out of the race with just 3 laps to go. With Merchant’s challenge abated, Litton was able to claim the $3,000 win holding off Scott Slay, who recorded his third top 5 finish in as many races on the O’Reilly SUPR tour, Bubba Mullins, Raymond Taylor and 2001 Late Model America/Ashley Brothers/B&K Underground Rookie of the Year Odie Green. Green’s performance moved him up to 3rd in the 2001 O’Reilly SUPR Championship point standings. An early race restart found two of the leading championship contenders heading for an early exit as Ryan Plaisance and Dave Siegert were involved in a nasty wreck that saw both cars heavily damaged. The wreck occurred on a restart as the field stacked up in the corner Plaisance was pinched to the outside just as Siegert was storming around the outside groove. 38 O’Reilly SUPR Late Models were on
hand. Tommy Surret, Waylon Morris, Rob Litton, Mark Andrews and
Ronnie Warman claimed the 5 heat race victories while Darren Patrick and
Trey Beene topped the last chance races. For further information regarding the 2001 OReilly SUPR Series contact Greg Holmes at 225-275-5040 or e-mail us at gholmes@suprracing.com.
